Snowboarders injured in ski lift accident
Three snowboarders were injured after a ski lift accident in Australia.
A chair became detached from the lift during a freak gust of wind at Thredbo ski resort in New South Wales.
Two women suffered back injuries and a man had facial injuries
The women were airlifted to Canberra Hospital.
It was an ‘isolated incident affecting a single chair on Kosciuszko chairlift,’ the resort said.
“No other guests or chairs were affected.”
None of the injuries were life threatening.
The NSW healthy and safety agency is investigating and the lift remained closed at the weekend.
The three snowboarders plunged into the snow several metres below.
The ski resort is located in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains.
