Southampton welcomed record three million cruise passengers in 2024
The Port of Southampton cemented its place as the UK’s cruising capital
The south coast cruise hub handled a record three million cruise passengers in 2024.
“We are proud to have the capability, infrastructure, and partnerships to facilitate sustainable cruise growth and over £1 billion in associated economic value,” said Rebekah Keeler, cruise strategy manager at port owner Associated British Ports (ABP).
“We continue to see global cruise sector growth, and Southampton leads the way for the UK and Northern Europe.”
Another milestone was the 50% increase in cruise ships plugging into Southampton’s shore power.
The port plans to increase its shore power capability.
Southampton is the dominant player in the UK cruise industry, handling 85% of all UK cruise traffic.
