Southern Rail strike suspended after both sides agree to fresh talks
The strike by Southern Rail workers has been called off – but trains to Gatwick airport are still expected to be busier than usual today.
Southern Rail said Thursday’s rail services would still be affected by a pre-planned strike timetable, although it will try to add more services.
Normal service will resume on Friday.
The strike began on Monday and had been due to last for the whole of the working week.
But members of the RMT union are returning to work after talks resumed between the union and the rail operator.
Earlier this week, passengers travelling to Gatwick by train were advised to allow extra time for their journey as the trains were expected to be busier than usual due to the strike.
