Southwest adds seven new routes at Reagan National
Southwest Airlines will more than double the number of flights it operates out of Washington’s Reagan National Airport (DCA) by the year-end.
Seven new routes have been announced from DCA to Chicago Midway, Nashville, New Orleans, Tampa, Akron-Canton, Dallas Love Field and Indianapolis.
The airline will also add extra flights from DCA to Houston and St. Louis.
"By year’s end, we’ll offer 44 daily departures to 14 destinations from Reagan National Airport, said Ron Ricks, Southwest Airlines executive vice president.
Like Southwest, both JetBlue and Virgin America has announced extra services, all made possible by a federal ruling forcing the new American Airlines-US Airways merged company to give up slots at Reagan National.
Southwest will offer introductory sale fares for the new routes starting at $84 for travel on all days except Fridays and Sundays.
The new route start dates will be phased in between August and November 2014.
