Southwest Airlines adding more Hawaii flights
Southwest Airlines is expanding service to Hawaii.
Starting in in early 2020, Southwest will fly daily between Sacramento and Honolulu.
In addition there will be flights twice a week from Oakland and San Jose, serving Kona and Lihue.
"We will offer service to the islands from both Sacramento and San Diego, as well as bring Southwest service to both Lihue, on Kauai, and Hilo, on the Island of Hawaii," Southwest CEO Kelly said.
Overall, eight new routes are being launched to and within the Hawaii islands.
From January 19 it will begin flights from both Oakland and San Jose to Kauai and Kona
Southwest’s interisland network is also expanding with Honolulu service to Kauai and Hilo.
Kelly also said the addition of San Diego flights to its Hawaii network are imminent but will unveil details at a later date.
Southwest launched Hawaii flights in April with Oakland-Kahului service, followed by San Jose-Honolulu in May.
Its Hawaii expansion has been delayed somewhat by the grounding of the Boeing 737 Max.
