Southwest Airlines joins NDC Exchange
ATPCO and aviation tech provider SITA have announced Southwest Airlines as the latest airline partner to join NDC Exchange.
It enables Southwest to seamlessly connect and expand its fare offer content to multiple distribution points that are already connected to NDC Exchange.
Created by ATPCO and SITA, the system enables API connectivity between airlines and travel partners using the New Distribution Capability (NDC) standard set by IATA.
Southwest retains complete control over which corporate travel sellers get access to its content as their primary focus.
Southwest expects to receive its first NDC Exchange bookings after the summer.
"By partnering with NDC Exchange, we are making our API more accessible. This new addition to our no-cost multichannel distribution portfolio will drive consistency while providing the necessary functionality," said Rob Brown, senior director of B2B strategy at Southwest Airlines.
NDC Exchange can support the shopping, booking, and servicing workflow functions as well as allowing cross-selling of ancillary product between airlines, and among airlines and sellers.
