Southwest Airlines names new communications chief
Southwest Airlines has promoted Linda Rutherford as SVP and chief communications officer.
With the promotion Rutherford adds the culture services department to her responsibilities.
She continues to oversee communication and outreach functions, and employee engagement.
"Linda embodies what it means to Live the Southwest Way, and she has skilfully championed our communication and outreach efforts for the past 25 years," said Southwest CEO Gary Kelly.
Rutherford joins the airline’s corporate services leadership team to enhance processes, policies, and tools to better serve its growing and diverse workforce.
Rutherford joined Southwest in 1992 and has served in a number of senior roles including VP of communication & outreach.
Her varied areas of responsibility have included media relations, PR and community affairs.
