Spaceship Pods launched in NZ
New Zealand created Spaceships, vehicles for travellers adventures, have just got bigger with the introduction of Spaceship Pods– an ‘on top’ sleep-out.
The innovative Spaceship Pods, made with a fibre glass base and top, and enclosed with canvas sides, are imported from Italy and attach to the roof of the Spaceship with a specially made roof rack. The new Spaceship Pods provide spacious sleeping facilities for two, and in turn, double the berths available in the vehicles.
The Spaceship Pods add another dimension to the popular custom fitted Toyota ‘people movers’ which feature quality, essential travelling equipment including; a cooker, a chiller, full size double bed, water supply and a stereo with DVD player (with route planning DVD), while still being a great vehicle to drive and having proper seating for four people.
In keeping with all the Spaceship facilities, the Pods are quick and easy to assemble and their light weight materials enables them to flatten down to a small pod on top of the vehicle where it remains while driving.
Neil Geddes, Spaceships MD, said; “The new Spaceship Pods provide the ultimate compact, hassle free and inexpensive getaway for four people.
“The versatility of our Spaceships makes us so appealing to travellers and we are constantly looking at ways to modify our offer to cater to more niche markets.
“You can hire a Spaceship which has roof racks to store your skis or kayak, we have 4WD vehicle options so you can ‘go bush’, and now, rather than offering tents for additional bed space, we’ve got our cosy new Pods – enabling us to cater to small families or groups of four who want to get away.”
The new Spaceship Pods will be offered as an upgrade option with an additional flat rate charge of $30 per day and are available from 16 December 2005.
Spaceships cost from $89 per day in peak season to hire which includes unlimited kilometres and 24 hour roadside assistances.
