Spence secures severance deal with TQ3
Former Britannic Travel boss Alan Spence described himself as “very happy” after negotiating a severance deal with TQ3.
As he prepares to spearhead the UK arm of global travel management firm FCm Travel Solutions, Spence said he was satisfied with the outcome of the deal but declined to reveal details.
Britannic’s split from TQ3, part-owned by TUI, followed an uneasy two years since TQ3 acquired Phoenix Travel – even though Britannic had been granted the UK licence until 2008.
“I think TUI wanted us to go but we had the licence so we stayed,” said Spence. “I’m not sure they realised we held the licence until 2008. I don’t know, but maybe thought we only had a one year licence. It could have been a bit of a faux pas on their part.”
Britannic Travel will officially rebrand to FCm Travel Solutions from July 1.
