Spirit Airlines takes a USD25 million hit from Hurricane Dorian
Hurricane Dorian is likely to cost Spirit Airlines about $25 million in lost sales revenue and related costs.
The airline cut its third-quarter outlook to an estimated revenue decline of 2.5-3.5%.
Spirit had previously forecast a decline of 1%-2%.
Like other major airlines, the Miramar based budget carrier had to cancel hundreds of flights mostly from and to Florida as Dorian made its way up the southeast coast after devastating parts of the Bahamas.
More than 40 people died in the Bahamas from Dorian, which peaked as a powerful Category 5 storm at one point.
The storm has been responsible for more than 4,000 flight cancelations in the past week and was still impacting travel this weekend in Canada.
