Sri Lanka hoteliers form tourism promotion alliance
Some of Sri Lanka’s top hotel and resort operators have teamed up to form a new alliance tasked with helping escalate the country’s tourism recovery.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Alliance comprises Resplendent Ceylon, Uga Escapes and Taj Hotels, as well as inbound travel companies and other tourism businesses, and aims to support the country’s return to normalcy following the Easter Sunday attacks.
It is spearheading the www.lovesrilanka.org platform which serves as a centralised portal of travel information offering blog posts, security updates, and video content for travellers.
"The Love Sri Lanka portal has been a great source of information to our current and prospective guests. We are positive that its impact will be felt in the long term too and reflect in our booking patterns," said Pankaj Sampat, Area Director of Taj Hotels.
The platform publishes a live stream of social media content crowdsourced from visiting travellers engaging with #LoveSriLanka to serve as travel inspiration and showcase off-the-radar experiences and tourism trends.
Malik Fernando, owner of Resplendent Ceylon said: "We are extremely grateful for the outpouring of support over the past two months and have no doubt that a bright and peaceful future lies ahead for Sri Lanka."
The alliance plans to form a public-private partnership with the Sri Lankan government to support and contribute to further national tourism campaigns.
