Sri Lanka travel advice revised
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office has lifted restrictions on travel to tsunami-hit areas of Sri Lanka.
The FCO has revised its travel advice after hotels and resorts re-opened.
A statement said: “We are no longer advising against all but essential travel to areas affected by the tsunami along Sri Lanka’s eastern and southern coasts and to the south western cost south of Kalutara.”
But the FCO added that anyone planning to travel should check with their tour operator or hotel before departing to ensure properties are operating normally. Most hotels in the eastern towns of Trincomalee, Nilaveli and Arugam Bay have yet to re-open, according to the FCO.
