Star of the Seas joins Royal Caribbean fleet
Royal Caribbean’s newest mega ship has been officially handed over to the cruise line.
It received its next Icon class ship Star of the Seas, from the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.
The ship sets off for its new Florida home later this month and is scheduled to start Eastern and Western Caribbean voyages from August 31.
The ship has a capacity for 7,600 guests 2,806 staterooms and boasts many of the features which launched on first Icon ship Icon of the Seas earlier this year.
The AquaDome Marketplace is upgraded with new dining venues.
A new tech innovation is the unlocking of staterooms via facial recognition.
A limited pilot program enables guests to enter staterooms using facial recognition without a SeaPass card.
The next Icon Class ship Legend of the Seas is currently under construction at Meyer Turku and is scheduled to join the fleet next year.
