Statistic shows Denver being shunned by visitors
The numbers of vacationers wanting to visit Denver is on a decline, says a consultant.
The percentage of leisure travelers who said they were interested in visiting Denver dropped from 44% in 2004 to 36% this year, said Peter Yesawich.
He told the Denver Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau the statistic was a “compelling reason” for the city to approve a 1 November ballot measure to boost the lodging tax.
“Business travel has yet to recover,” said Mr. Yesawich, whose firm, Yesawich, Pepperdine, Brown & Russell, is one of the leading marketing travel companies in the US.
