Stay in a West End pod for £17
A backpacker’s hotel with accommodation starting at £17 a night is to open in London’s West End.
The accommodation near Piccadilly Circus will consist of 700 Japanese pod-style capsules across 33 dormitory-style-rooms.
The first phase of the Piccadilly Backpackers Hotel opens on the third floor of the property on February 10 with remaining floors due for completion throughout the year. Bookings are available via www.piccadillyhotel.net.
The hotel’s manager Leon Poole said: “We’re trying to provide luxury at affordable prices. A number of high profile budget hotels have opened in the capital recently, many of which have no pictures on the walls, no carpets or wardrobes and worst of all no windows.
“This was something we thought, and our customer surveys showed, was unacceptable and needed addressing.”
The Piccadilly Backpackers Hotel claims to be the first in the UK to offer individually hand-crafted Japanese pod style accommodation and specifically designed ‘art-rooms’.
A statement said: “Feedback suggests that due to the new pod concept, which provides comfort and privacy for £17 per person, per night, including continental breakfast, the opening is set to see guests from all walks of life booking into the hotel, from workers missing the last train home to shoppers visiting London for the day to take advantage of the sales.”
