Storm kills 18 in Central America
Mexico’s Pacific coast has been hit by Hurricane Jova, killing at least five people and injuring six.
The hurricane hit the coast as a Category 2 storm west of the Mexican port of Manzanillo and the beach town of Barra de Navidad, bringing 100 mph winds and heavy rains.
It then moved inland before weakening to a tropical depression.
Further south, a tropical depression hit Guatemala, killing 13 people.
Guatemala issued a red alert after at least 12 landslides on roads and bridges were destroyed.
Guatemalan forecasters have warned the heavy rain could last for another two days and more than 2,000 people had been evacuated from flooded areas.
