Storms bypass Caribbean
If you visited most of the countries in the Caribbean, you would hardly notice a storm had passed by here, says Johnson JohnRose, the spokesman for the Caribbean Tourism Organization.
Hurricanes had little impact on the 30 island nations, according to Mr JohnRose.
“Charley, the most powerful storm to hit the Caribbean in 10 years, damaged homes in Barbados, St. Lucia and St. Vincent,” said Mr JohnRose.
But he said by now it was business as usual.
Some cruise lines rerouted vessels. And Port Canaveral in Florida closed for a brief period, but it has now reopened.
And the impact on cruise passengers?
A spokeswoman for Princess reported no cancellations as a result of the hurricanes.
In common with other cruise lines, Princess has been giving passengers future cruise credits or refunds for any cancelled trips.
