Strategic dumps Perth-Bali route
Strategic Airlines has become a victim of over-capacity on the Perth-Bali route.
During peak times there are up to 10 flights a day between Perth and Bali.
Strategic is to quit the route after 18 months, blaming cheap fares brought about by intense competition. Its last flight will be on October 29 but several scheduled services will be cancelled ahead of the final flight.
The move is part of a repositioning and relaunch of the airline later this year.
Passengers affected by Strategic’s withdrawal from the route will be offered full refunds.
Strong growth on the Perth-Bali route saw traffic for the 12 months to May this year surge by 27 percent to 768,000 passengers – the eighth busiest route from Australia.
Commenting on record outbound departures from Australia, Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF) chief executive John Lee said, “it’s about bars, beaches and boutiques backed by the strong Aussie dollar.
