Strike threat at TAP Portugal

Sunday, 01 Jun, 2009 0

Flights between Gatwick and Porto could be severely delayed or cancelled from June 4 until 13 if pilots from subsidiary Portugalia go ahead with their threat to strike over pay and conditions.

A spokesman for TAP said it was doing all that it could to avoid the stoppages by negotiating with the appropriate authorities and remain optimistic that the issues can be resolved without the need for strike action.

If the strike goes ahead Tap will, where possible, reprotect passengers on other TAP flights departing from Heathrow. Customers holding confirmed and ticketed bookings may change their travel plans if they wish, without charge.

Some domestic flights within Portugal would also be hit by the strike action but Heathrow operations to and from Portugal and flights from Gatwick to Madeira (Funchal) would not be affected.
