UNWTO held two side events at the critical Earth summit this week and letters from tourism leaders book launched

Travel and tourism leaders are calling for a new enlightened framework for sustainable tourism in a ground breaking collection of essays compiled by thirty of the world’s tourism thought leaders

"Green Growth and Travelism: Letters from Leaders" was launched at today at the United Nations Rio+20 three-day summit on sustainable development in Rio de Janeiro.

Contributors included: Akbar al Baker, Richard Branson, Taleb Rifai, Maurice Strong, David Scowskill, Harold Goodwin,  Thomas Enders, Tony Tyler and Valere Tjolle.

UNWTO held two side events at the UN function both relating to tourism driving a sustainable future. High level speakers included Brazil’s Minister of Tourism, Costa Rica’s Minister of Tourism, Minister of Tourism of Madagascar the Secretary General of UNWTO and Maurice Strong the convenor of the original UN Earth Summit in 1992.
