TAT hails permanent visa-free pact with China

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has welcomed the permanent tourist visa waiver agreement with China, and praised the Thai government.

TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool expects the move to bolster more airlift between the countries.

“This policy will greatly improve travellers’ convenience and benefit the tourism industries of both Thailand and China,” Thapanee said.

“We will likely see more direct flights on both new and existing routes, while prices of air tickets should go down.”

The directors of five TAT offices based in China (Beijing, Shanghai, Kunming, Chengdu, and Guangzhou) will work on marketing strategies as the permanent waiver comes into effect in March.

Thapanee said TAT will market Thailand tourism to more of China’s secondary provinces with an emphasis of first-time travelers to the Kingdom.
