Team Tiger ready to pounce with appointment of management team
Australia’s newest low fare airline Tiger Airways has announced key members of its senior management team in Australia, with the new management team to be based at Tiger Airways new office at Melbourne Airport.
On the announcement of the management team Tony Davis CEO of Tiger Airways said, “It is great to have the Australian team in place in the lead up to operations commencing later this year.” “Such talent and experience are drawn to the real deal and high quality operations that Tiger Airways is offering in Australia.”
The seven senior appointments include: –
Captain Mark Phillips: Chief Pilot
Captain Mark Philips has an established career in aviation spanning 30 years where he held positions in pilot instructing, charter, freight, aero-medical, corporate and airline operations. Captain Philips has been flying Airbus A320’s in airline operations for the past 17 years throughout Australia and Asia. He has been with Tiger Airways since 2005 and is familiar with Tiger Airways flight operations. He will implement and monitor standards of efficiency, safety and security to ensure safe and reliable flight operations for Tiger Airways Australia.
Captain Phillip Clack: Head of Training and Checking
The majority of Captain Clack’s nearly two decades in aviation has been in operations based in Australia. Prior to his current position in Singapore with Tiger Airways as a A320 Captain, Instructor Pilot and CRM Coordinator he worked at Skywest Airlines for over a decade which culminated as Skywest’s head of Checking and Training. Captain Clack’s extensive Australian aviation experience in training and flight operations will ensure that the crews of Tiger Airways Australia are of the highest operational standard ensuring the Australian public receives the highest level of safety and professionalism from Tigers Airways Australia’s crew. Captain Clack also holds a masters degree in Technology Management (Aviation Human Factors) from Swinburne University.
Michael Tsesmetzis: Deputy Maintenance Controller
With over 30 years experience in commercial aviation and a comprehensive background in Air Transport- Airline Engineering & Maintenance Control, Michael has vast experience in fleet maintenance & planning, technical support, aircraft introduction and disposal. Michael’s responsibility is to ensure compliance with all regulatory matters relating to safety & the control of Maintenance performance providing for a safe and reliable fleet. His previous employment included engineering portfolios with Ansett Australia, AAES, OzJet Airlines, and Asian Express Airlines (DHL).
John Costa: Head of Maintenance (Maintenance Control)
John’s primary responsibility is the oversight and control of the continued airworthiness of the Tiger Airways fleet in Australia. His previous aviation experience consists of 24 years with Ansett Airlines mainly in engineering where he worked in a number of engineering and management roles across the organisation, both in Australia and overseas. His prior employment was with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority Australia as an Airworthiness Inspector/Air Safety Auditor in Melbourne, over-sighting a number of high capacity RPT operators.
R Ramalingam: Head of Ground Services and Security.
R Ramalingam has been with Tiger Airways since 2004 and has been instrumental in setting up ground operations and security arrangements at all its stations across Asia Pacific. Ramalingam was part of the initial team responsible for obtaining the Air Operators Certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore. Ramalingam has been associated with Civil Aviation for more than 42 years. He was formerly with the Singapore Airlines Group for more than 37 years and held Management positions in various areas, both locally and overseas. His last position in the Singapore Airlines Group was Senior Manager (Security Operations).
Alison Jones: Head of In-Flight Services
Alison has seven years of Cabin Crew and management experience in aviation with previous positions in Malaysia Airlines, Virgin Blue and OzJet. Alison was heavily involved in OzJet’s Air Operators Certificate (AOC) and was Cabin Manager on the successful proving flight. Her proficiency in flight crew operations and familiarity of the AOC process will be useful as she develops the Tiger Airways In-flight Services Crew.
Matt Hobbs: Head of Corporate Communications
Matt Hobbs has extensive background in the Australian tourism industry, public policy as well as government affairs and is currently the senior tourism adviser to the Australian Minister for Small Business and Tourism. Prior to joining the Minister, Matt was the national policy manager for aviation and regulation at the Tourism and Transport Forum where he undertook lobbying of a range of aviation issues on behalf of the big aviation players in Australia.
