Terrorist attack-expectant Americans want racial profiling
Americans expect a terrorist attack in the next few months and a solid majority support racial profiling, according to a Quinnipiac poll.
Sixty-two percent of Americans were “very worried” or “somewhat worried” that terrorists would strike in the next few months, said the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
The poll showed Americans are jittery in the wake of British authorities foiling a plan to blow up airplanes.
Sixty percent of those polled said authorities should pay special attention to people who look “Middle Eastern” for special security screening at airports and train stations.
Civil liberties groups opposed to the practice say racial profiling has been on the rise since the Sept. 11 attacks.
The poll also said most Americans rank the Sept. 11 attacks as more significant than the bombing of Pearl harbor.
