Thai Airways posts a rare half-year profit
Thai Airways posted a net profit in the first half of 2021, its first of the pandemic era. It had a consolidated net profit of THB11.1 billion ($333 million), compared to a THB28 billion loss a year ago.
It was helped by selling off assets and cutting employee costs. It brought in THB2 billion by selling off its stake in Bangkok Aviation Fuel Service and shares in budget carrier Nok Air.
The airline is under a court-appointed rehabilitation process after filing for bankruptcy and trading in its shares remains suspended.
