Thailand tourist fee to start in June
Thailand plans to introduce the THB300 tourist fee this summer.
It is expected to be implemented from June 2023, following a meeting of government officials.
The tourist fee proposal was first mooted last year but was suspended to avoid hindering the tourism recovery.
It is still subject to cabinet approval.
Funds from the fee will be used in part to support foreign visitors’ medical expenses after accidents;
It will also be used for further tourism development.
Tourism Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn expects about 25 million tourist arrivals this year.
