That’s the way to learn to ski!

The boss of the enormous Samsung corporation, Lee Kun-Hee, has reportedly hired three entire pistes in the ski resort of Courchevel because he does not want to ski with other people. According to a report in The Times, the businessman is paying £1,000 an hour for the pistes to be fence off and has hand-picked instructors to teach him how to ski. He has however, the newspaper reports, been warned that people may watch him perfecting his snow-plough turns from behind the barriers. In addition to hiring the pistes, Mr Lee has reportedly hired a fleet of snowmobiles so he will not have to use ski lifts, and will be taken from his hotel to the slopes on a municipal vehicle fitted with a flashing blue police light. The request for ski instructors reportedly includes the following requirements: “Neither too old nor too young, they must be locals but not too rustic, and speak perfect English.” One Courchevel restaurant owner is quoted as saying: “This caprice is ridiculous and out place. I am shocked because a lot of other VIPs, emirs, princes and corporate bosses come out to Courchevel and nobody notices them. If Mr Samsung wants to rent pistes, let him go and do that in the United States, where they have private resorts” Report by Tim Gillett, News From Abroad Ltd
