Miss Vanessa marsh from the Pacific Island of Niue is vying for the title in the current Miss South Pacific Pageant.
Richard Skewes of the Niue Tourism Office recently said, “If everyone travel agent logged onto www.misssouthpacific.as and cast their vote for Vanessa, not only would we be able to lay claim to the title of Miss South Pacific but thousands of travel agents would have also of heard of our tiny island nationâ€. He also went on to say that “All of the ladies in the Pacific are truly beautiful like the countries they represent however regardless of the result Vanessa is already a winner in our eyes – much in the same way that Niue is extra special amongst a myriad of lovely island nations.â€
Launched in 1986, the Miss South Pacific Pageant has given much emphasis to the promotion of the unique cultures and friendly South Pacific people and environment. According to the Pageant Information, the Miss South Pacific Pageant strives to recognize, promote and acknowledge the beautiful attributes and talents of the Pacific lady and her contributions to regional affairs. It also offers advice and assistance to the ladies of the Pacific in advancement as ambassadors and promoters of the Pacific as a unique holiday destination.
Situated in the heart of the Polynesian triangle lies this largely unknown and unspoiled island nation. Niue, reputedly the worlds largest uplifted coral atoll offering amazing coastlines, unique virgin forests and a reef which has created beautiful secluded swimming coves and lagoons.
With all the charm of the South Pacific, the water surrounding Niue is a divers dream and caters to some of the Pacific’s best deep-sea fishing, snorkeling & whale watching.
