Thomas Cook jet in emergency landing
A Thomas Cook passenger jet has been forced to return to Gatwick airport to make an emergency landing after it lost one of its wheels. According to Sky News, the front wheel came off shortly after the plane took off for Sofia, Bulgaria, on Saturday afternoon. There were 177 passengers on board. The Sky website reports that the plane returned to Gatwick and made an emergency landing as fire crews and ambulances stood by. Nobody was injured. A spokesman for Thomas Cook is quoted as saying: “Safety was paramount. The passengers are now back in the main terminal and another plane is being prepared to take them to their destination. “Although some of the passengers were shaken, none have yet asked to cancel their trip. Everybody still wants to get off on their holiday.” Report by Tim Gillett, News From Abroad Ltd
