Thomsonfly announces winter routes
Thomsonfly is looking to capture the winter sun, ski and shortbreaks markets with a series of flights launched for the winter season.
The TUI-owned airline will serve 13 destinations from its base at Coventry airport from the start of November, which means dropping four of its summer routes.
Thomsonfly is adding Alicante to its other Spanish destinations – Valencia, Palma and Malaga. It will be served five times a week with fares from £22 each way including taxes and charges.
In a bid to capture the shortbreaks market, it will launch an Amsterdam flight six times a week. Other shortbreaks routes being launched are to Cork and Shannon, in addition to existing flights to Jersey, Venice and Pisa. Fares on these routes start at £18 each way including taxes and charges.
The airline has four aircraft based at Coventry, so in order to accommodate the new services, four routes are being dropped: Ibiza, Rome, Marseille and Nice. But a spokesman told TravelMole they could be reintroduced for next summer.
The ski market will be catered for with daily flights launching to Grenoble. The French airport offers access to various ski resorts including Chamonix, Lea Arcs and Courcheval. A second ski destination is Salzburg, which will be served eight times a week and is a good point from which to reach ski resorts like St Johann and Kitzbuhel. Fares start at £23 each way on these routes.
