Thousands stranded at Athens airport
Thousands of travellers are reportedly stranded at Athens’ international airport after a walkout by staff at Olympic Airways.
The online news provider Ananova reports that up to 19,000 travellers could be affected by the strike with dozens of flights already cancelled or postponed.
The website suggests that the workers are protesting at government plans to replace the carrier with a “slimmed-down” alternative, adding that Olympic is possibly heading for bankruptcy unless the company is reorganised.
