Three British nationals missing in Turkey earthquake
Three British citizens are missing after the Turkey earthquake.
UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said three are reported missing and the Foreign Office is assisting 35 other Brits who have been impacted.
Cleverly said ‘the likelihood of large-scale British casualties remains low’.
“The Turkish government has declared a state of emergency and are requesting international assistance.”
The powerful 7.8 magnitude Turkey earthquake killed over 5,000 and destroyed at least 8,000 buildings.
The quake affected several provinces in southern Turkey and Syria.
It was also felt on the Mediterranean coast and in Cairo and Lebanon.
At least 20 aftershocks followed.
The quake badly damaged Gaziantep’s historic castle, the most popular attraction in the region.
