Top UK green hotel to host autumn masterclass
Sensational line up of sustainable tourism stars set to catalyse discussions ranging from branding, eco-chic through all-inclusive to voluntourism.
London’s Lancaster Hotel, crowned this year with the top Gold Star Green Tourism Award and the top Considerate Hoteliers Award is now set to be the scene for this September’s Sustainable Tourism Masterclass.
The hotel has an astonishing range if eco-friendly and social-friendly initiatives, from bee hives on its Hyde Park roof to participation in many local schemes to alleviate poverty.
It is clearly a fitting place for the UK’s only high-level intensive sustainable tourism masterclass to be held.
This year’s masterclass will be held on September 14th and a few of the speakers already confirmed include:
- Mark Watson director of Tourism Concern – the global human rights and tourism campaign organization
- Gopinath Parayil – founder and CEO of The Blue Yonder and joint founder of the Responsible Tourism networking events
- Professor Stefan Gossling – contributing author to the 4AR of the IPCC and world authority on tourism and climate change
- John Firrell – director of the Considerate Hoteliers Association
Subjects up for presentation and discussion at the autumn masterclass include:
- All inclusives & cruises: ways for destinations to benefit
- Fashion, tourism, ecochic!
- Voluntourism
- Branding & social media
- Dropping niches and prepositions: Responsible/Sustainable/Green/Ethical etc
"We are set for an historic session, given the challenges we face in the marketplace, there is a giant tussle going on between those who purvey real sustainability and big time proponents of greenwash. The masterclass will certainly explore this fully and deliver opportunities to the former at the expense of the latter!" Said Valere Tjolle, masterclass moderator and editor of Vision on Sustainable Tourism
The full day intensive sustainable tourism masterclass is scheduled for 14 September in central London cost £500 per person including all meals.
Masterclasses are restricted to a maximum participation of 25 attendees. Early booking discount of 40% is currently available – until 31 July only
There are a few special tickets for BONA FIDE COMMUNITY DESTINATION REPRESENTATIVES just £100 – 80% reduction. To apply for one of these tickets email [email protected]
