Tour company introduces intimate “Be My Guest†program
Trafalgar introduced its “Be My Guest” program in its 2010 USA, Canada and Mexico program that takes guests into resident’s homes.
Trafalgar has been providing travel experiences for more than 60 years, said Paul Wiseman, president of Trafalgar Tours, USA. “And this takes a step further as travelers have the exclusive opportunity to take part in unique and authentic local dining experiences, including visiting family homes for home-cooked meals or eating at authentic local dining spots.”
Opportunities to indulge in North America include:
• A private winery tour hosted by the owners of the Nicholson Ranch Winery in Sonoma, California. Visitors can enjoy spectacular views, learn about wine and enjoy a tasting followed by a lakeside alfresco lunch on the eight-day Northern California trip, priced from $1,650 per person. The 14-day Western Discoverer priced from $2,499 per person, or the nine-day The Californian tour, priced from $1,725 per person.
• Visitors can experience traditional Amish hospitality with a tour of the herb gardens, an Amish meal and participate in a local baking tradition at the Leola Village in Pennsylvania’s Amish country on the 14-day East Coast USA and Canada, priced from $2,750 per person.
• Chef David Sterling, often seen on television’s Oprah Winfrey, will teach guests how to make local Mexican cuisine and mix a margarita in his colonial home in Merida. After the cooking class, guests will sit down to sample a range of Yucatan specialities. This experience is available on the nine-day Treasures of the Yucatan, priced from $1,599 per person.
• Dine with a family on the nine-day Mexico’s Copper Canyon tour where guests are welcomed by the Torres family into their restored 1800’s mansion in El Fuerte, Mexico. Dinner includes regional specialties such as locally caught Black Bass and performances by traditional Hispanic and indigenous dancers. Priced from $1,499 per person.
