A tourist boat capsized during bad weather off the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua, killing at least 13 people.

The boat was carrying 32 tourists,  when heavy win and rain caused the boat to flip over between Nicaragua’s Big Corn Island and Little Corn Island.

The Corn Islands are a popular vacation destination.

The 13 dead were all Costa Rican tourists, the foreign ministry said.

Survivors accounted for include two British tourists, two Americans and a Brazilian.

The boat owner and a member of crew were being detained for reckless homicide and exposing people to danger, police said.

The state-run news agency reported all sea travel in the area had earlier been banned due to dangerous weather conditions.
