Tourist chiefs promote central Europe
Tourist officials from Germany are teaming up with neighbouring countries to promote joint tours of European cities for tourists.
The tour itineraries will include stops in Germany, Czechoslovakia, Austria and Hungary.
Yvonne Kubitza, president and chief executive officer of the tourist board in Dresden, Germany, has recently been at a New York trade event to drum up publicity for the tours, which will be available in March.
She said it was a ‘new destination’ which would appeal to American visitors.
Dresden and surrounding communities face billions of dollars in repairs in the wake or flooding on the River Elbe in August, but most major damage was confined to residential areas.
Many important monuments, such as the Zwinger Palace, have now re-opened for business.
