TOWARD showcases industry groups at Travel Distribution Summit
TOWARD Europe has launched two new groups looking at cost cutting and improving distribution of inventory and content.
The Business and Cost Analysis Group will look at how the industry can cut costs to maximise profits. Companies represented on the group total 25 and include Accor, Travel2 and British Airways Holidays.
The Inventory and Content Group comprises representatives from 30 companies including Amadeus, Eurostar and Cendant.
Like the two working groups that preceded them (Tour Operator to Distributor and Travel Supplier to Tour Operator), the groups will meet or hold conference calls on a monthly basis and take part in industry events. The idea may be to create a white paper that is distributed to members, but this is yet to be decided.
The groups were created in response to TOWARD’s first international conference held in Nice this year. TOWARD is launching the groups at the EyeForTravel Travel Distribution Summit, which is taking place in Earls Court this week.
The workshop will take place at 3.30pm today (Tuesday May 18). Four representatives from the organisation’s 36 member companies will be there. This includes William Hennessy, director of automation marketing at Hertz Europe and Paul Mahoney, IT director at Travel2. The session will be jointly-chaired by Ally Dombey a partner of industry consultants Partners in Marketing and Philip Alford, senior lecturer/researcher at the International Tourism Research Institution at the University of Luton.
The workshop will also be an opportunity for people in the industry to find out more about the organisation as a whole and what it is setting out to do.
