Transatlantic pick-up for American
American Airlines has recorded a pick-up in transatlantic carryings of more than 18% last month.
The year-on-year rise came as the carrier increased capacity on routes across the Atlantic by almost 10 per cent.
The monthly load factor for transatlantic flights was 80.2%, a rise of 5.8 percentage points over October 2003.
Overall, the airline saw traffic rise by nine per cent in October, with a load factor up by 4.7 percentage points to almost 75%. American carried 7.5 million passengers in the month across its network..
The airline’s Europe and Pacific vice-president Craig Kreeger said: “Transatlantic traffic figures continue to improve.”
As reported by TravelMole, the airline has launched a seasonal Manchester-Miami service.
