Travel chaos for Gatwick rail passengers
Rail travel to and from Gatwick Airport is being severely disrupted this morning after a power failure caused a meltdown across the train network.
A total loss of signalling power on three separate supplies in the Streatham area is affecting Gatwick Express, Southern and Thameslink lines, with services completely suspended between Gatwick and Victoria.
Network Rail is telling travellers not to travel to London where possible and warned the disruption would last throughout the day and possibly until Friday morning.
There is a limited service via London Bridge but no trains at all to London Victoria.
Gatwick passengers are advised to leave extra time for travel. Advice has been issued about using alternative routes.
Thameslink services between Luton and Wimbledon are also suspended until further notice, affecting crowds trying to get to the tennis today.
