Travel Counsellors celebrates ‘lucky’ Friday the 13th
Travel Counsellors claims Friday the 13th was the best ever days for sales in its 16 year history, when its turnover reached £2.26m, smashing its previous record of £2.08m in January last year.
It then went on to beat its second best ever sales day – and achieved its fastest £1m – on Friday January 20 when overall sales reached £2.14m. Yesterday was it’s third record-breaking day, when sales also topped £2m.
The company said bookings for holidays departing in January were up by 27% compared with last year and bookings for holidays departing within two months were up by 18%.
Managing director Steve Byrne said over 140 Travel Counsellors had their best ever sales month in January and over 50 agents took more than £100,000. A further 170 took sales over £50,000.
"We are delighted to have seen such a positive start to the year for our Travel Counsellors. It is a reflection on how hard they work and that with the right attitude, skills and support, you can grow your business in what we all realise is a tough market," he said.
The company has also experienced its best ever sales day for its own in-house dynamic packaging system Phenix, which gives its Travel Counsellors the ability to set their own commission.
It claimed one in five of its agents use the system as their number one supplier, achieving an average margin of 19-20%.
Travel Counsellors is forecasting a turnover of £380m for 2012. Sales last year reached £346m, a 10% increase on 2010.
