Travel Counsellors reports sharp rise in summer sales
Travel Counsellors is reporting a 15% rise in sales this summer compared with the previous year.
It says it has also seen a 20% increase in forward bookings for travel in 2016.
Managing director Steve Byrne said: "We have seen a strong booking trend over the summer months and a significant increase in late summer sales, with bookings made during June to August due to travel before the end of September also up by 22%.
"Additionally our future bookings are also performing well, which has also been buoyed by our recent brand awareness campaign, and we expect to see the benefits of this continue."
The homeworking group said the top three summer destinations were Spain, Italy and Greece, helped by the favourable exchange rate.
"Despite the recent economic crisis in Greece, this still has not put travellers off holidaying in the destination and making the most of their money going further," it said.
