Travel price comparison site appoints new boss
Travel price comparison website Dealchecker has appointed Mark Attwell as its new managing director to take over from the site's co-founder Alex Saint.
Saint and his partners Troy Collins and Andrew Bredon sold Dealchecker to European travel portal Easyvoyage in February. At the time the three said they would stay with the company for 12 months but Dealchecker confirmed today that Saint would hand over his duties as MD to Attwell in October.
Attwell has 16 years experience in the online travel and e-commerce sectors, having been associate director of e-commerce at comparethemarket.com and previously head of e-commerce at Thomas Cook Signature.
He also held a similar role with Virgin Holidays, where he spent five years.
Attwell's earlier years in the travel industry included a position as eDreams product manager, one of the UK launch team during the dot.com boom and three years with Thomson.
He said: "I’m looking forward to developing (dealchecker) by increasing subscribers further from the current 1.1 million and growing current travel partners in the large and niche sectors of the industry.”
Saint said he was "looking forward to focusing on new challenges”. On completion of the handover, he will be concentrating on the development of Secret Escapes, the travel members club offering
discounts of up to 70% on luxury hotels and holidays.
