There was a whole range of different performances from travel industry shares yesterday as London’s equity markets slumped on profit taking from dealers.

The FTSE 100 index closed 0.7 per cent down – a decline of 29.1 points to 4339.7 – while the broader-based FTSE 250 also fell back, losing 15.1 points to end the day at 5835.5, a drop equivalent to 0.3 per cent of the index’s total value.

Dealers were once again busy and traded 3.1 billion shares.
