Travel technology is hot topic this autumn
The conference season gets underway once again with two events taking place in October that will be of particular interest to the travel technology sector.
The first is the Autumn Conference of the Travel Technology Initiative (TTI), being held in London on 7 October.
The event is centred on the controversial issue of e-brochures, and features presentations from Anite’s Ed Spiers, TUI’s Jeremy Ellis, and Les Csonge from Digitalwebbooks – a TravelMole web award winner.
TTI says brochure production costs the industry over £400 million per year. The conference aims to look at the arguments for the introduction of e-brochures. According to TTI one point is that e-brochures go hand-in-hand with dynamic pricing – offering greater flexibility than a printed version. The debate will also examine how companies like Kuoni have developed e-brochures.
The event costs £230 for non-TTI members. For details click here.
Later on in the month is the EyeforTravel e-Tourism Europe 2003 Conference taking place in Majorca on the 17-18 of October. Speakers at the event include TUI AG Director Corporate Development, Thies Rheinsberg and Expedia Europe’s Simon Breakwell.
The price to attend this event is currently €995 or €750 for non-profit organisations, although prices will increase as places run out. For more details click here.
The EyeForTravel event intends to examine how to use various online channels to sell travel products and look into the role of government funded tourist boards and privately funded destination portals in distribution of travel products. Debates will also examine how operators are reacting to competition from online agents and no-frills carriers.
