Travellers warned of severe typhoon in Shanghai
Travellers to southern and eastern coastal regions of China, including Shanghai, are being warned that a tropical storm is likely to bring hazardous weather conditions in the coming days.
Typhoon Talim is likely to affect the mainland from Thursday and up to half a million people could be evacuated from their homes in south-eastern China.
Householders are being warned some homes are unlikely to withstand the force of the super typhoon.
It said it will bring rough seas as well as hazardous weather to parts of Zhejiang province, including the cities of Ningbo, and Shanghai.
Air and land trabsport disruption is expected.
Talim is expected to pass through North Taiwan today and make landfall on the mainland on Thursday.
The typhoon season in China normally runs from May to November.
