Hospitality group Absolute Hotel Services has signed a joint venture pact with the Asia unit of Travelodge to bring three new Travelodge brand to Thailand.

Touted as a potentially huge deal calling for ‘aggressive expansion plans for Asia,’ three new brands will be established – Nano by Travelodge, One by Travelodge and Skye by Travelodge.

"The midscale hotel segment that Travelodge and its three sub-brands operate in is expected to fit in well with the travel demographics of Thailand. We are excited to bring in a new international brand to Thailand and target over 4,000 keys in Thailand for Travelodge by 2020," said Jonathan Wigley, CEO of AHS.

Travelodge also has ambitions to launch hotels in several Asian markets including Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan.

It has more than 1,000 locations in North America, Europe and Australia.

AHS operates several brands including the Eastin Grand Hotels, Eastin Hotels & Residences, Eastin Easy and U Hotels & Resorts brands and has a portfolio of 60 hotels currently open or in development.
