Travelport to extend online check-in service
Travelport GDS’s ViewTrip information tool has been improved to in an effort to streamline online check-in for travellers.
A new online check-in facility is now available on Galileo-created ViewTrip itineraries with seven airlines – British Airways, Delta Air Lines, Frontier, Midwest Airlines, SWISS, bmi and Virgin Atlantic.
Travelport is in discussions to add online check-in to ViewTrip for a further 80 airlines.
Travel management companies using ViewTrip will be able to include direct links to the seven airlines’ own online check-in service as part of their email booking confirmation.
Online check-in via ViewTrip assists airlines by easing lengthy check-in queues and reduces the costs and resources associated with providing personnel to manage passenger check-in at the airport.
Travelport supplier services vice-president EMEA Matthew Hall said: “This is one more example of how Travelport is supporting its airline partners and will help them reduce check-in queues at the airport and enhance the consumer travel experience.”
Other services currently available on Travelport GDS ViewTrip include an online itinerary, flight and gate information, weather update, maps and driving directions.
