‘Trump Slump’ is real
Travel agents in the UK have confirmed a drop in demand for the US since President Donald Trump took office.
A little over half of those who responded to the question "have you detected a Trump slump" in a recent TravelMole poll agreed that they had.
Less than half (48.7%) said they hadn’t.
President Trump has courted controversy since moving into the Oval Office, attempting to temporarily ban travel from Muslim-majority countries until flight security has been reviewed, and imposing a gadgets ban in carry-on bags on flights from 10, mainly Muslim, destinations.
His attempted travel ban has been thwarted by lawyers in the US, but the ban on gadgets in hand-luggage has prompted airlines from the Middle East to cut their capacity between the Middle East and the US.
Abu Dhabi-based Etihad has recently announced plans to drop its Abu Dhabi to San Francisco service from the end of October.
