TSA probe after passengers threatened with box cutter
The Transportation Security Administration is under scrutiny after a passenger got through a security screening checkpoint with box cutters.
He later caused an emergency landing after allegedly threatening passengers on the flight with one of the sharp knives.
TSA agents at Cincinnati Airport failed to follow correct protocols, the agency said.
The ‘image review capabilities of the CT scanner were not fully used’.
One box cutter was discovered in a physical search and returned with the blade removed.
However, the second box cutter was not detected.
The TSA agents involved are being retrained.
The Frontier Airlines flight to Tampa was diverted to Atlanta after the man threatened passengers.
The US Attorney’s Office is investigating the incident.
