TTD: Galileo introduces web-based e-ticketing tracker
Galileo UK has introduced a new web-based solution – E-Tracker – enabling agents to view and track the status of all electronic tickets.
The move comes as more than 70% of bookings through the system are now e-ticketed. Galileo signed its 67th e-ticketable carrier in the UK as the GDS gears up for the abolition of paper tickets by the end of 2007.
Galileo claims the online innovation reduces instances of costs being incurred unnecessarily by customers as it checks unused tickets and enables them to be voided.
The aim is to eradicate approximately 4% of e-tickets which remain unused after the travel dates. Galileo estimates that for a medium sized agency generating £5 million of bookings a year, this would represent a loss of £200,000 to clients.
Galileo UK country manager Patrick Lukan said: “Galileo made a strategic decision to lead the way in e-ticketing. There are a number of benefits to our customers, in terms of improved efficiency, reduction in administration time, particularly relating to unused tickets and cost savings.
“We have already signed our 67th e-ticketable carrier in the UK, so the provision of E-Tracker was a natural progression in terms of providing an enhanced e-ticketing service to agents.
“We have kept it simple too. E-Tracker can be used alongside Galileo GDS and can be downloaded via the internet, so there is no need to buy additional software. It is designed to enable agents to deliver an enhanced service to their customers, which is a key focus for Galileo.”
