TUI UK to cut 800 jobs
TUI UK is reportedly to cut its workforce by some eight per cent in a review of its business.
According to the online news provider Ananova, the cuts will be effected by cutting the number of Lunn Poly shops, with further cuts at Thomson Holidays and the Britannia airline. The carrier will also reportedly be renamed Thomsonfly under the proposed changes.
Noting a “change in travel trends”, TUI UK will also review its holiday brands, with a possibility that some of them will be merged.
A spokesman is quoted as saying: “The days of everyone walking into a travel agent to book their holidays is gone. We have to take into account the fact that people book on the internet or take independent holidays. The whole shape of the package holiday is changing.”
